About Us

Located in Southwest Wisconsin, Holy Ghost and Immaculate Conception Catholic Churches are dedicated to spreading the Good News of the Gospel and building a faithful community of followers based on the words and deeds of Jesus Christ. Holy Ghost Church is located in Dickeyville, Wisconsin, and Immaculate Conception Church is located in Kieler, Wisconsin. Two miles separate the two churches, and we share a Catholic school, Holy Ghost-Immaculate Conception School. Preschool through 2ndd grade classrooms are housed in the Dickeyville school building while grades 3rd through 8th grade classrooms are located at the Kieler school building.   More than 300 families are members of Holy Ghost Church in Dickeyville, WI.
  
  Forty-five families met at the Dickeyville town hall on June 8, 1872, and planned to build a Catholic church with land purchased by Bishop Henni of Milwaukee. Between 1913 and 2013, Holy Ghost parish recorded 2,544 baptisms, 700 marriages, and 690 funerals. The Dickeyville Grotto was built between 1925 and 1930 by Father Matthias Wernerus, the Holy Ghost parish pastor from 1918 to 1931. More than 300 families are members of Holy Ghost Parish. The first annual Holy Ghost Labor Day Picnic was held in 1914, and continues to be held on the day before Labor Day each year.

  Father Bernie Rott attended Valton Elementary, a one-room schoolhouse! His hobbies include farming, woodworking, and playing slow-pitch softball in his earlier years. He enjoys spending time in nature. Father Bernie’s favorite prayer is “Lord, help me remember that nothing is going to happen to me today that together we can’t handle.”

  More than 400 families are members of Immaculate Conception Parish in Kieler, WI.
  
  The Catholic congregation at Kieler was organized in 1855. The current stone church was first built in 1869. The pastor, Rev. Peter Oeschger, fell to his death while helping with the interior scaffolding. A parish center was added to the structure in 2006. More than 400 families are members of Immaculate Conception Parish. Since 1955, Immaculate Conception Parish has held its annual 4th of July Picnic and continues to celebrate on Independence Day with food, beverages, and games on parish grounds every year.
